Nothing Works Here: Lod Offers Cheap Apartments — But Buyers Aren't Coming

Development agreements in Lod and the thousands of apartments built in recent years aimed to provide affordable housing for young families and boost the city. However, developers are struggling to sell these properties. Initially, a four-room apartment was priced at 2.8 million shekels, but now even at 2.6 million, sales are sluggish. Annual reports from Israeli real estate companies highlight sales difficulties in 2025, especially in Lod. The city, which gained attention during the 2021 events, suffers from a poor image, worsened by Mayor Yair Revivo's criticism of the government's handling of crime, despite his affiliation with the ruling Likud party.
