According to the latest data from Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics, the rental housing rate reached 29.6% in 2025, marking a 0.8% increase from 2024. The total number of rented homes stands at 892,000, a 4.8% rise from the previous year. Contrary to reports from the Ministry of Finance indicating a decline in properties owned by investors, these figures suggest a growing trend in renting. The cities of Mitzpe Ramon and Harish have the highest rental rates, while major cities are also following this trend. The phenomenon of property owners choosing to live in rented accommodations while leasing out their own properties is becoming increasingly common. This trend is driven by a strong real estate investment culture, where owning a property is seen as essential, even if it means not residing in one's own home.
