War does not change policy: No TAMA 38 discussions in Petah Tikva

The municipality of Petah Tikva has halted discussions on building permit applications for TAMA 38 projects in the city center, citing a lack of capacity in local primary schools to accommodate new students. Despite the importance of urban renewal for enhancing resident safety, the city maintains this freeze. The Petah Tikva Contractors' Organization disputes this decision, claiming the municipality lacks the authority to block these applications. The regional appeals committee has ruled that over 1,000 new apartments can be built in the area. Some residents and local officials believe the city center cannot handle such density without compromising existing infrastructure, preferring light renovations over large-scale projects.
