Stop the Fear of Eviction: RMI Wants 1,100 Apartments at Ness Lagoyim, but Knesset Supports Residents

The Israel Land Authority (RMI) has issued eviction orders for dozens of families in the Ness Lagoyim area of South Tel Aviv, aiming to market the land for the construction of 1,100 new apartments. During a meeting initiated by MK Ofer Cassif in the Knesset's Interior Committee, the RMI was requested to freeze these orders to negotiate compensations with the residents. The committee, led by MK Itzhak Kreuzer, expressed support for the residents, highlighting the tensions between real estate development interests and the rights of long-standing inhabitants. The discussion underscores the social and economic challenges associated with land reallocation in densely populated urban areas, where developers' interests often clash with those of long-term residents.
