Contractors Oppose Ban on Building Parking in 70 Streets in Tel Aviv

The Tel Aviv Contractors and Builders Organization has voiced its opposition to the city's new policy banning vehicle access to private parking lots along 70 commercial streets, including Alenby and Dizengoff. This policy, set for a vote, is criticized for potentially harming compensation rights for devaluation and for including non-commercial streets. The contractors claim the policy was discussed without prior notice, violating previous agreements with the municipality. They also highlight legal inconsistencies, arguing that the policy contradicts existing urban plans and attempts to evade compensation payments. The municipality defends the policy, citing its positive impact on public spaces and pedestrian safety. The contractors demand the immediate withdrawal of this policy or, failing that, a postponement to allow for comprehensive discussion.
