Construction at Sde Dov Delayed? Pollution Found After Land Sale

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Israel Land Authority have reported the discovery of pollution in the groundwater at the Sde Dov site in Tel Aviv. This pollution is attributed to the use of firefighting foam containing PFAS compounds. Although the land sale for approximately 7,000 housing units generated over 10 billion shekels for the state, steps are now being taken to manage environmental and health risks. This includes expanding soil investigations and assessing the pollution's impact on the coast and sea. Authorities state it is still too early to determine if this will significantly affect construction. An industry expert notes that the need for purification is a common practice, but the issue arises when pollution is discovered only retrospectively.
